I thought that the overall exhibition for Claire Rau was good. I did not think it was great because to me it was a little boring and non of her pieces really "wow" me or make me say, "hey thats really cool." But overall it was a nice art show. And I think it flowed nicely with her idea of traps and weapons and things.
The piece that I picked was her sculptures of the three traps that she made. They seem to be made out of plastics. The colors she used were red, gray, and black. The three traps are identical. She got the idea from a real trap that she bought herself which I think is the best way to get an idea of something is to actually see it.
I think this peice is about just what it is. They are traps. I think they represent the violence in the world but at the same time it can be beautiful. These traps dont look very violent or harmful but I dont think Claire wanted them to be.
